YouTube is Now a Social Network – Here’s Why It Matters for Your Business

Hi, I’m Jan Rezab
this is Social Media Minute. YouTube has finally done it. We’ve been talking
about this for a long time, that we would really love
YouTube to become a social network, that G+ was really a step on the side, and that really what Google
should have done in the first place was turn
YouTube into that social platform. And they started
adding things in a subtle way. First, they allowed publishing
posts and photos, and other things. Then, they started
adding your social graph, your friends from your
already existing Google network. Now, they’re even purposefully encouraging people
to share other people’s videos. Because of these three things,
YouTube is now a social network. What does that mean for brands? Brands should figure out,
as they’re moving up in their subscribers, that there’s now organic
reach for non-video published posts. You can publish a photo, you can republish a video
that you’ve done a while back. This is an amazing opportunity,
I encourage every brand to try it. Very few brands
are actually doing it right now. Watch this
because YouTube still has amazing power. It’s still the number two
social network after Facebook. Check it out, we’ll be
watching you through our lens of data, and see you next week.
