♪ Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm ♪ ♪ Wow, look at her now ♪ ♪ Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm ♪ ♪ Look at her now ♪ – The past few years have
been anything but easy for Selena Gomez, in part
due to her ongoing battle with lupus, and, sadly enough,
online hate she’s received about her weight fluctuations
caused by the illness. Well, now the superstar is opening up about how those nasty comments have affected her mental health. In a new interview with
Giving Back Generation hosted by her friend,
Raquelle Stevens, Selena said, “It depends on even the
month, to be honest, “so for me, I really noticed “when people started
attacking me for that,” adding, “That got to me big time. “That really messed me up for a bit.” But after a brief social media break and a huge return with
chart-topping music, Selena says she’s very
happy with living her life and being present, explaining,
“Because that’s it. “Similar to me posting a
photo and walking away, “for me that’s it. “I will do a red carpet,
I will do whatever. “I don’t need to see it, I participated. “I felt wonderful and that’s
where the extent of it is. “I don’t care to expose myself to everyone “and hear what they have to say.” And no matter the scenario,
Selena credits her faith and some amazing friends in her life for helping her get through hard times, telling Raquelle, “I think once I started “to really understand my spirituality, “and believing in something
much bigger than myself “was very important for me. “Because I don’t believe that
I can do this life alone.” To stay up to date with Selena, plus all of your other favorite artists, keep it locked on billboard.com. Until next time, for Billboard News, it’s your girl, Jordyn Rolling. (graphic whooshes)
